This page tells how to find the information you need and gives some webisites to check out about Kentucky.

 

  • Major Cities:  Your 3 towns are already listed in your notebooks.  To look for another town go to http://www.uky.edu/Libraries/NDNP/regions.html and pick  a county from your region and do a search for it. When you search for a county, a map will come up on the right side with names of cities in that county.  Go to KentuckyTourism.com to search one of the towns in your region.

 

  • Landform with Proper Name:  To find landforms in the region you can look at the google map of a county or town.  You can look at the Kentucky map in the room or you can search for rivers and lakes around the towns in the region.  Remember to give me the name of the river, lake, or cave that you find.

 

  • Local Attractions or Special Events:  To find local attractions or special events, search for a town or county in your region and read about that place.   When you search for a county, a map will come up on the right side with names of cities in that county.  To find out about those cities do a search of those cities.  You will find something that happens in that town.  You may have to research more than one town. You will find something that happens in that town.  Go to KentuckyTourism.com to search one of the towns in your region.

 

  • Interesting Facts:  You will find 3 interesting facts by researching the towns and counties in your region.  Most towns and counties have their own website.  When you search for a county, a map will come up on the right side with names of cities in that county.  Go to KentuckyTourism.com to search one of the towns in your region.

 

  • Natural Resources:  The natural resources are listed in your notebooks.  To find the uses search for the natural resource and what it's used for.

 

  • Relative location and Absolute Location:  To find absolute location go to worldatlas.com and type in the town or place you need the absolute location of (see picture on right).  Relative location is when you use one place to tell where another place is, like Wal-Mart is south of North Elementary.  Find a building, restaurant, park, or town in your region and tell me where it is compared to someplace else.

 

  • Picture:  To find four pictures of your region, open a new tab and search for the towns or places in the region. Save to your Google Drive by two-finger tapping on the picture.

 

  • Map:  If you are creating a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation, you can save the picture of Kentucky with the region colored in at the top of the page.  To save an image from the chromebook two-finger tap on the image and choose "Save to Google Drive" then "Save Image to Google Drive".  Give the image a new name and click close.
